Connections by Elizabeth Caudle

ICONS Exhibition

ICONS: Inspirational, Creative, Olivet, Nazarene, Students
The premier exhibition for ICONS is hanging in Strickler Planetarium. ICONS is the Department of Art and Digital Media's honors art group. Students in the group participate in campus and community projects as well as mentoring other students in the arts.

ICONS is:
1. A representation or picture of a sacred or sanctified Christian personage
2. A symbol resembling or analogous to the thing it represents

FAITH AS ART | ART AS FAITH





The Brandenburg Galleries is pleased to host the Art Faculty of the CCCU (Council of Christian Colleges & Universities) in its Faith as Art | Art as Faith series of exhibitions. The Faith as Art | Art as Faith series is a newly created, annual exhibition exploring the ways that the creative arts and faith intertwine. Artworks that are inspired by faith, that examine its social and political ramifications, or explore creative ways to spread the Gospel of Christ are represented.

Faith as Art : Art as Faith - Call for Entries

The Brandenburg Galleries is seeking faculty artists who pursue creativity to explore their faith and spirituality in meaningful ways. Our goal is to foster creative scholarship and conversation between faculty of Christian Colleges and Universities on a national level.

Faith as Art : Art as Faith began in the Fall of 2009 as a scholarship exhibition for the students of ONU's Dept. of Art & Digital Media. The Brandenburg Galleries is seeking to expand this exhibition into an open, annual series focusing on student, faculty, national and international artists.

All 2D and 3D mediums will be eligible for consideration. Chosen artworks will be on exhibition at the Brandenburg Gallery and the Strickler Gallery on the campus of Olivet Nazarene University.

Accepted Works: All work should be delivered ready for installation. 2D work must be wired and ready to hang. Any special considerations for complicated presentations should be discussed prior to delivery of artwork. Work must be labeled with: Artists name, Title, Media, Dimensions and price or NFS (Not for Sale).

Lisa Pesavento's Decadence

Small Works Exhibition is up!

The Small Works exhibit is now up at the Strickler Planetarium Gallery.

An intimate viewing of student and faculty artworks will be on display until April 12th. All works are under twelve inches offering a look at work on a personal scale among an art world enamored with other worldly sized pieces.

Please stop by and have a look. There will not be a formal reception for this exhibit, however it will be open 10-5pm during the week and will be open for viewing on Thursday, April 8th during the 6-9pm hours along side our receptions of Allen Posey's The Alternative Show at Brandenburg Gallery and Laura Gardner's A Nature Walk at Higher Grounds.

Laura Gardner's A Nature Walk

A Nature Walk, a senior graphics exhibition by Laura Gardner is up at Higher Grounds until April 12.

Please plan to attend her reception on April 8th from 6-9pm. A raffle will be held for multiple prizes and part of the proceeds from her exhibition will be donated to the United Way of Kankakee County. Her gallery talk will begin at 8pm.

Allen Posey's The Alternative Show

The Alternative Show consists of Allen Posey's alternative process prints, or cyanotypes, as well as chromogenic color prints of architectural photographs.

Please plan on viewing Allen's work which will be up in the Brandenburg Gallery until April 12. A reception will be held on Thursday, April 8th from 6-9pm. His gallery talk will begin at 7pm.

Daniel Oliver and Rachel Fiorenza at Strickler Gallery

This week and next, Feb 25 - Mar 15th, the Strickler Planetarium Gallery will be hosting works by our senior artists, Daniel Oliver and Rachel Fiorenza.

A reception will be held Thurs March 4th from 6-9pm with gallery talks beginning at 7 pm.

Daniel Oliver is showcasing his sequential artworks while Rachel Fiorenza will be showing her Paintings and Illustrations.
